Dear friends and supporters,
The Friends of Daniel for Rowing Association has been very busy this summer, encouraging our athletes in various competitions in Israel and around the world. We invest significant resources in advancing young and promising High-Performance athletes, but we never seize to support our community outreach programs.
We made it easier for our friends to support FDRA, please click on JGIVE.
This newsletter is a truly impressive snapshot of recent success of the FDRA excelling and promising athletes program.
2017 Israeli Championships
Last month Nurit Bezdesky (22) and Omri Shenzer (20) won gold, and were crowned Israel's women's and men's champions for the 1st time. Omri was accepted to the IDF's excelling athletes program, and divides his time between rowing and serving in the Israeli Airforce. Nurit is now a full-time member of Israel's national rowing squad. Yesterday she took off for the World Championships (Under 23) in Bulgaria. Wish her luck!
20th Maccabiah Games, Israel
Rowing competitions have just concluded, and Israel won a total of 5(!) gold medals – all by FDRA supported athletes!
Top stars were Dani Fridman, Nurit Bezdesky, Yoav Siebzehner, Omri Shenzer, Oleg Gonorovsky, Chen Oshri, Laurie Tannenbaum, and the Juniors – Daniel Dubitski & Itay Yekutiel, who have already flown to Lithuania, where they will race in the Juniors' World Championships next week.
World Rowing Cup
Our paralympic quad boat won Bronze, while Dani Fridman finished 9th in the single sculls, thus reaffirming his position at the forefront of the global arena.
We are so proud of them all – talented and inspiring athletes indeed!
Looking ahead, the 2017 World Rowing Championships will be held in Sarasota, Florida, at the end of September. All athletes to represent Israel are from the Daniel Rowing Centre, supported by FDRA. Among them, Moran Samuel, a world champion and Rio medalist. She's currently recovering from an elbow injury, nevertheless working very hard, planning to arrive in the USA 100% fit.

The FDRA applies a three-fold program to impact-fully support our excelling and promising athletes:
a. Providing state of the art training equipment and facilities at the Daniel Rowing Centre.
b. Financing participation in international training camps and regattas.
c. Giving individual grants to specific athletes, in recognition of achievements, and as an ongoing provision that allows them to focus on their goals.
All the above wouldn't be possible without the generous donations we receive from friends like you, and for this we are deeply grateful.
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ever-growing support and interest, and wish you a summer full of joy!
